My Story
Erin May Baillie knew from an early age that she wanted to be a historical fiction author. She has always been fascinated by stories of people in the past, spending lots of time in museums and writing her own stories as she grew up.
When she left school, she studied social history for her BA (Hons). She went onto complete a Master’s in History for her thesis, she researched the relationship between crime and poverty in Victorian london. While the Victorian period is her favourite, she loves learning about other periods and cultures.
After leaving school, Erin took several courses on editing and proofreading and began freelancing for an editing agency, where she worked for nearly four years. During this time, she also offered developmental editing services through her company, Cracked Spine Editing. She rebranded this to Erin May Baillie when she decided to focus on writing.
She is about to have her first short story, ‘Brotherings’, published in the second volume of Short Stories From Scotland. She is currently working on a novel set in Edinburgh in the 19th century.
She now writes a blog with tips and advice for other aspiring authors.
